After graduating from Tishreen University School of Medicine at Lattakia, Syria, Dr. Mounzer Kassab came to the United States and joined the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the State University of New York – Buffalo where he received his Master’s degree in Neuroscience. He completed his Neurology residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed two ACGME accredited fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology and Vascular Neurology.

He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Vascular Neurology.

Dr. Kassab joined the Department of Neurology at Michigan State University as an Assistant Professor in January 2005. His clinical practice is focused on stroke and epilepsy. He is a part of the Stroke/Neuro Critical Care team at MSU and Sparrow Health System. He is also striving to upgrade the medical care of epilepsy in the community and to enhance clinical neurophysiology knowledge among residents and fellows. Dr. Kassab’s research is focused on migraine and stroke.
